چکیده

We perform a comparative analysis using three reduced-order strategies – Missing Point Estimation (MPE) method, Gappy POD method, and Discrete Empirical Interpolation Method (DEIM) – applied to a biological model describing the spatio-temporal dynamics of a predatorprey community. The comparative study is focused on the efficiency of the reduced-order approximations and the complexity reduction of the nonlinear terms. Different variants are discussed related to the projection-based model reduction framework combined with selective spatial sampling to efficiently perform the online computations. Numerical results are presented.

POD/DEIM reduced-order strategies for efficient four dimensional variational data assimilation

This work studies reduced order modeling (ROM) approaches to speed up the solution of variational data assimilation problems with large scale nonlinear dynamical models. It is shown that a key ingredient for a successful reduced order solution to inverse problems is the consistency of the reduced order Karush-KuhnTucker conditions with respect to the full optimality conditions. In particular, a...

Solving systems of nonlinear equations using decomposition technique

A systematic way is presented for the construction of multi-step iterative method with frozen Jacobian. The inclusion of an auxiliary function is discussed. The presented analysis shows that how to incorporate auxiliary function in a way that we can keep the order of convergence and computational cost of Newton multi-step method. The auxiliary function provides us the way to overcome the singul...

Pii: S0168-9274(02)00116-2

In recent years, a great deal of attention has been devoted to Krylov subspace techniques for reduced-order modeling of large-scale dynamical systems. The surge of interest was triggered by the pressing need for efficient numerical techniques for simulations of extremely large-scale dynamical systems arising from circuit simulation, structural dynamics, and microelectromechanical systems. In th...

On macromodeling of nonlinear systems with time periodic coefficients

Some new techniques for reduced order (macro) modeling of nonlinear systems with time periodic coefficients are discussed in this paper. The dynamical evolution equations are transformed using the Lyapunov-Floquet (L-F) transformation such that the linear parts of the new set of equations become time-invariant. The techniques presented here reduce the order of this transformed system and all or...

A Variable Structure Observer Based Control Design for a Class of Large scale MIMO Nonlinear Systems

This paper fully discusses how to design an observer based decentralized fuzzy adaptive controller for a class of large scale multivariable non-canonical nonlinear systems with unknown functions of subsystems’ states. On-line tuning mechanisms to adjust both the parameters of the direct adaptive controller and observer that guarantee the ultimately boundedness of both the tracking error and tha...
